What an organization is
An organization is an account like yours: it has its own page (prototir.com/@handle), with a logo and a hero image, and it can own prototypes and collections. Creators and organizations share handles, so each one is unique across both. An organization runs on an organization plan, which sets the limits for the work it owns.
Joining
- Everyone starts with their own personal account, free.
- The organization's Owner or an Admin invites you by your handle or your email address, one person or a whole list at once. You get an email, and you accept or decline on your Team page. No account yet? Sign in with the invited address and the invite is waiting there. An invite stays open for 14 days and can be sent again.
- You take one of the organization's seats only when you accept.
- You can leave whenever you like. For now you can be in one organization at a time.
Roles
- Owner: sees and manages everything the organization owns, and alone handles billing, seats, roles and the organization's page.
- Admin: invites people, removes Members, creates collections and runs the ones they are on, and publishes the organization's work from them. An Admin does not see another Admin's private collections unless invited.
- Member: works inside the organization and sees the collections they are invited to.
Your work and the organization's work
When you publish, you choose the Owner of the prototype: you, or the organization.
- Your own work stays yours, on your own plan, including after you leave the organization.
- Work for the organization belongs to the organization, always with your name as its author. As a Member you keep working on it, and it stays Private until the organization's Owner or an Admin publishes it.
- Only the organization's Owner can move its work back to a person, so nobody takes the organization's work with them.
Collections
A collection gathers work into one page with its own header, order and captions. An organization can use them for anything: a single assignment, a whole course, a selection of the best work, an exhibition.
- A collection is Private (only its people), Unlisted (anyone with the link) or Public (listed on the organization's page).
- Each collection has its own people, added directly from the organization's members: Owner (whoever created it), Admins (who run it with them), Contributors (who add their own work) and Viewers (who see it).
- Private work added to a collection is visible to that collection's people, so a teacher can open, play and comment on it. Only whoever manages a private prototype can add it.
- Each collection chooses whether Contributors see everyone's work, for peer feedback, or only their own, for grading. Viewers and the people running it always see everything.
- Nobody sees a private collection they are not on: last year's course stays closed to this year's class.
Plans and limits
Limits follow the owner of the work. What you publish as yourself uses your own plan, and being in an organization does not change it. What the organization owns uses the organization's plan.
- Free: 3 prototypes, 125 MB per file.
- Pro: unlimited prototypes, 250 MB per file.
- Team: unlimited prototypes, 500 MB per file, for the organization's work.
If an account ends up with more prototypes than its plan allows, for example after a downgrade, nothing is hidden or deleted. Everything stays live and playable; only the prototypes you keep active can receive new builds, and you choose which ones in each prototype's Studio. See Plans & pricing.
When someone leaves
- The work they made for the organization stays with it, with their name as author.
- They leave every collection of the organization.
- Their own work and their personal plan are unchanged.
Schools and education
A school works like any other organization: teachers are Admins, students join with their own accounts, and each course or assignment is a collection. For education plans, write to prototir@experir.com.
